I spent way too much money on key finders for this post, but it was worth it because I know now what is worth keeping on my keychain. tldr: the new Tile Mate (with replaceable battery, finally!)

Small to large, with a quarter for reference, these are the 7 key finder devices I tested.

I’ll be spending over 40 hours of time reviewing the top 7 Key Finder Devices you can buy on Amazon today. All of these key finders have replaceable or rechargeable batteries, because it’s 2019 people! There is no reason to have to throw out these key finders each year. Luckily more and more brands like Tile are releasing new finders with replaceable batteries.

7 key finders that I reviewed in 2019:

  • Tile Mate
  • Tile Pro
  • Pebblebee Key Finder
  • Chipolo Classic Key Finder
  • Key Finder Pair by KeyRinger
  • Cube Tracker
  • nonda ihere Key Finder

Each key finder was reviewed based on first impressions, finder size, companion application and ease of use.

#1 Best Overall Key Finder – Tile Mate

Best overall key finder, the Tile Mate

If you want to cut to the chase, my #1 pick accounting for price, range, ease of use, feel, and sound was the Tile Mate! My best key finder device for 2019 after 40+ hours testing and using these key finders.

First Impressions: Solid build to this device. Significantly smaller than the Tile Pro. Great Packaging. Very light, feels a little cheap with the majority of the device plastic, but nice curved design makes up for the plastic feel. 3.5 out of 5 stars.

The Tile Mate next to a US Quarter for size comparison

Size: The Tile Mate is right in the middle of our lineup size wise, not too big, not too small. 3 out of 5 stars.

Range: Advertised range for the Tile Mate was 150 feet.

Ease of Use: The Tile app for iOS is very simple to use. 5 out of 5 stars.

Sound: Decent Sounds

Budget: 4.5 out of 5 stars. You can usually pick the Tile Mate up on Amazon for around $25.

What I like best: My favorite feature of the Tile Mate is the app. The Tile app is easy to use, and pairing the Mate with my phone was simple.

#2. Tile Pro

First Impressions: Woah! This thing is large. It’s much larger than the Tile Mate. I love how it feels pretty thin in your hand though. The battery is super easy to change which is a huge plus. Loud.

Tile’s top end key finder, the Tile Pro

Size: The Tile Pro is on the higher end lineup size wise, and where small is better, the Pro’s extra range comes at a cost of a larger device. 2 out of 5 stars.

The impressive range of the Tile Pro comes at a cost of a larger size.

#3. Chipolo Classic Key Finder

Chipolo Classic bluetooth key finder

First Impressions: Wow, this thing is small. Easily the thinnest of all the key trackers. Not sure how easy this battery will be to change. White plastic feel reminds me of a round version of the Tile Mate.

The Chipolo Classic gets 5 out of 5 stars for size. Sometimes smaller is better!

Size: The Chipolo Classic is the small key locator device when you account for it’s thinness. 5 out of 5 stars.

#4. Pebblebee Key Finder

Pebblebee Finder. So. cute

First Impressions: OMG, this is adorable. Very thick, but the smallest diameter of all the devices. This thing reminds of of a POG slammer from my childhood. The weight of the stainless steel really makes it stand out. Love the packaging and branding. Very cute. Has a light that illuminates which I haven’t seen on any other devices yet.

Nearly the size of a quarter, but quite a bit thicker.

Size: The Pebblebee Key Finder has the smallest diameter of any of our key finders reviewed. It is a little thicker than most though. 4 out of 5 stars.

#5. KeyRinger Key Finder Pair

The ugly packaging of the KeyRinger

First Impressions: Packaging was terrible. Missing 1 device the first order I got. Not a good start. This thing is large. Battery cover relatively easy to change. OH MY EARS. SO. LOUD. At least it’s got that going for it. This thing is huge.

Massive sound. Massive size! Boo.

Size: The KeyRinger is massive. It’s long and thick and while it boasts a huge sound, it’s just way too big 1 out of 5 stars.

#6. Cube Tracker

The CUBE. Key finder gone felt?

First Impressions: Is this felt? Really has a different tactile feel then the other trackers. Packaging was a little sloppy, but had an extra CR2032 battery which is nice. Weird battery changer device included which I will I’m sure lose in like a day. Feels thicker than it should be. Meh.

It’s not huge, but the Cube tracker seems too thick.

Size: The Cube Tracker feels thicker than it should be. 3 out of 5 stars.

#7. nonda ihere Key Finder

nonda ihere Key finder. Rechargeable. Bleh.

First Impressions: Nice small triangle. Not sure how I feel about another rechargeable device, but it includes a mini-usb charger cord, nice plus. Thicker then I would like.

nonda much here. Nice size key tracker.

Size: This little guy would win this battle if it was a little thinner. 4 out of 5 stars.
